2018 Conference Theme - "At the Helm for 35 Years"
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Association of Hazardous Materials Response Specialists (VAHMRS), I want to thank you for your interest in registering to attend the 35th Annual Virginia Hazmat Conference.
In partnership with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), we provide hazardous materials responders with one of highest quality training and networking opportunities available in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
The types of responses we face have changed dramatically over the years. They now include terrorism, clandestine drug labs and the fentanyl epidemic. Let’s not forget that we have graduated from “attempting” to identify a spilled product with a piece of litmus paper taped to a stick to identifying a completely unknown substance in a minute or less. This ever-changing dynamic reinforces our need to remain focused on quality training and preparedness.
The Virginia HAZMAT Conference continues to serve as one of the most cost-effective training and educational opportunities available to hazardous materials responders. This Conference would not be successful if it were not for the committed volunteers from VAHMRS and VDEM. We are also extremely grateful to our exhibitors and sponsors who support our critical mission. The commitment you are making to attend our Conference will further our goal of “making the Commonwealth of Virginia a safer place to live and work”.
