On behalf of the members of the Virginia Association of Hazardous Materials Response Specialists (VAHMRS), I invite you to attend the 31st Annual Virginia Hazardous Materials Conference. In partnership with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) we strive, through the delivery of this conference, to provide hazardous materials responders with a First Class training and networking opportunity.

First Responders continuously face new and difficult challenges. Economic issues, natural and man-made disasters, bio fuels and new chemical processes have been a few of those “challenges” over the past several years. The increased transportation of crude oil and other chemicals by rail, pipeline, waterway and other modes continue to present challenges throughout the Commonwealth. The recent train derailment incident in Lynchburg is a confirmation of the need for preparedness and training.

Our conference serves as a vital training and educational resource for hazardous materials responders from across the United States. This endeavor would not be successful if it weren’t for the dedicated volunteers from VAHMRS and VDEM. We are also extremely grateful to our sponsors and exhibitors who support our mission.
