Matt Bertman is the director, leadership and organizational development for Amerisure Insurance where he is responsible for organizational and talent management strategies which have included bringing Amerisure’s Corporate University to fruition. Prior to joining Amerisure, Bertman held the position of national director, leadership development for Pulte Homes. where he managed the implementation of management development programs, in addition to creating and disseminating the organization’s training curriculum and e-learning capabilities.

Dennis Bishop serves as president of the Southern Division of Holmes Murphy & Associates. As a shareholder, member of the Executive Committee and National Practice Leader Committee, Bishop is responsible for corporate benefits strategy and financing. He is respected throughout the industry and was an inaugural member of both the Aetna and United Healthcare National Broker Advisory Councils. He also serves as CEO of the Accountable Care, Accountable Patients Health.

Paul Blume is senior vice president, state government relations for the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI). In his present position, Blume leads PCI's regional state government relations operations and advances key advocacy issues. Prior to joining PCI, he served for six years as assistant general counsel for AIG with responsibility for government relations in several Midwest states. He also worked with government leaders within the region, coalition partners, producers and business community allies to address issues of importance to AIG's business units and profit centers.

Barrie G. Christman is vice president of the Individual Investor Segment of Retirement and Investor Services for The Principal Financial Group®. She is also chairman of Principal Bank and Principal Trust Company, affiliates of The Principal Financial Group®. Christman joined The Principal in 2001. Prior to joining the company, she was executive vice president of Huntington National Bank in technology businesses, and was previously president of Huntington’s Northern Ohio region. She has been in banking over 35 years, having worked for Bank One and Mellon Bank before joining Huntington.

Lynn Coady, SPHR, is the vice president – human resources for ACUITY, A Mutual Insurance Company. Coady is responsible for the human resources, internal audit, food service, and land maintenance functions. She has 30 years of varied experience in human resources staffing, training and development and total rewards. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the International Society of Employee Benefits Specialists.

Greg Crabb is the chief administrative officer at Amerisure Insurance. His current areas of accountability are claims, information technology, human resources, business process and legal. In this role, Crabb oversees enterprise wide strategies that focus on people, process, technology, and governance with an overall goal of improving operational efficiency, effectiveness and customer service. He is also secretary of Amerisure’s Holding Company and serves on the board of Agency Business Solutions, an affiliate company.

Steve Denault has served as senior vice president of Human Resources and Communications since June 2010. He is responsible for overseeing hiring, employee benefits, payroll, internal and external communications and continuing education programs. Denault joined Illinois Farm Bureau in 1991 and moved to COUNTRY in 1992 as a Health Business analyst. He moved to Human Resources in 1995 where he held various positions. In 2006, he became vice president of Human Resources.

David de Wetter is a senior organization effectiveness consultant with Towers Watson, a leading global human capital consulting firm. Based in Dallas, he has 25 years of experience helping clients effectively implement strategy through people. His work focuses on aligning strategy and structure with business objectives, developing and implementing human capital programs that reinforce that alignment, and enhancing the effectiveness of the HR function through strategy, structure, and metrics.

Jeff P. Gagnon is the assistant vice president, director of training and development for Amica Mutual Insurance Company. He has spent his entire professional career with Amica Mutual Insurance Company. He began his career in 1989 as an associate claims adjuster in Amica’s Southern California office. He worked in the Hartford, CT office as a senior adjuster and in Northern California as a claims supervisor. In 1997 he transferred to the Rhode Island Claims Department as a senior claims supervisor and in 1998 became the assistant managerment.

Edward G. Hochuli is a partner with Jones, Skelton & Hochuli since it was founded in 1983. During that time, he has tried well over 150 civil jury trials to verdict. Hochuli concentrates his practice on transportation defense, professional liability defense, extra-contractual and bad faith defense and products liability defense (including medical device). However, Hochuli is better known as a referee in the National Football League since 1990. He is one of the most respected officials in the NFL, having worked numerous playoff games, including two Super Bowls.

June Traina Holmes is chief operating officer and treasurer for the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI). She is responsible for the day to day operational management of the organization including the planning and execution of strategic and operational plans and initiatives. Holmes was appointed to this position by the PCI Board of Governors in February 2006. She served as the association's interim chief executive officer from September 2005 to September 2006 while the PCI Board of Governors conducted a national search for a new president and CEO of the organization.

Dr. Pete Hutchings III is a licensed psychologist and a licensed marriage and family therapist. He received his Ed.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia and did post doctorate work in Psychology, Counseling, and Marriage and Family therapy at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Hutchings taught at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., and later served as a psychologist for the State of South Carolina. He went into private practice in Columbia, S.C. from 1991 to 1994, when he moved his practice to Atlanta, Ga.

Janet S. Katz is the executive vice president and chief executive officer of American Agricultural Insurance Company which she joined in 1989. Prior to becoming executive vice president and CEO, she held various actuarial and marketing positions most recently being sr. vice president and chief operating officer. Katz is a Fellow in the Casualty Actuarial Society, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and has her CPCU and ARe designations.

Benjamin J. McKay is the senior vice president – federal government relations for the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI). He leads PCI’s federal government relations team and has primary responsibility for insurance regulatory reform, natural catastrophe insurance and legal reform. He joined PCI after nearly a decade as chief of staff to elected officials in both Florida and Washington, D.C.

Margaret Resce Milkint is managing partner of The Jacobson Group and handles executive management and actuarial searches on a national and international basis in the areas of life and health, property and casualty, reinsurance, and consulting for the organization's retained search division, Jacobson Executive Search. She also plays a significant role in the continued development of the entire organization as a member of The Jacobson Group’s Executive Management Team.

John P. Nelson currently serves as executive vice president, chief administrative officer, for Employers Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded Workers Compensation insurance carrier. He joined the company in July 2004 and is responsible for all administration, customer support, facilities, human resources, and corporate insurance related services, programs and policies for the organization. Prior to joining Employers, Nelson served as vice president, human resources & administration for Fielding Graduate University.

Jeffrey J. Rieder CPA, CPCU, is president of Ward Group, a management consulting and research firm specializing in the insurance industry. Rieder has significant experience in the insurance industry with expertise in the property casualty and life, health and annuity segments. Throughout his 18-year career, he has been involved with over 400 projects for numerous regional, national and international insurance companies, covering a diverse range of technology, performance, and operational evaluations.

David A. Sampson is the president and chief executive officer for the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI). Before joining PCI, Sampson worked with President George W. Bush and served the Bush administration as deputy secretary of the U.S. Commerce Department. He was also a member of President Bush’s Management Council.


June Stacey is the associate vice president, human resources for United Educators (UE) Insurance. Since joining the company in 2003, she has increased employee engagement through programs designed to create a positive work environment and opportunities for advancement. As the company has grown from 40 to more than 110 employees, Stacey has developed hiring and orientation processes to ensure new employees succeed in UE’s collegial, yet driven, culture. Through her partnership, she has implemented telework, mentoring, and leadership development programs.

Carl J. Witkowski is chief operating officer and executive vice president of GUARD Insurance Group. He joined GUARD in 1996. With GUARD, he’s held several executive management positions, currently serves on its Board of Directors, has co-developed numerous patents while transforming GUARD’s scalability and IT platform, and is the enterprise’s curator of Culture and Human Capital. He has a multitude of management, executive, and leadership experiences.
