Federal Home Loan Banks: The Insurance Industry Link to the Capital Markets
The Federal Home Loan Banks, a network of 12 regional wholesale banks, count more than 200 insurance companies nationwide, with assets exceeding $2.1 trillion, as members. These insurance company members use advances from the banks for a variety of reasons, including contingency liquidity, interest rate and enterprise risk management, investment arbitrage, and other important financial management purposes. This presentation will cover the various requirements and benefits of Federal Home Loan Bank membership.
