Charles Sweetser

Charles Sweetser received a BSEE degree in 1992 and a MSEE degree in 1996 from the University of Maine. He joined OMICRON in 2009, where he presently holds the position of Technical Service Manager for the Americas Region.

Charles worked for 13 years in the electrical apparatus diagnostic and consulting business. He has published several technical papers for IEEE and other industry forums. As a member of IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) for 14 years, he presently holds the position of Chair of the FRA Working Group PC57.149 and is also a member of several other working groups and subcommittees.



Mary Foster

Mary Foster joined OMICRON in 2009 as Primary Manager Bushings/Instrument Transformers (North America) and is a specialist in OMICRON's DIRANA device, which offers a diagnostic technique to identify moisture content in oil-paper insulation on the basis of dielectric response. 

Mary brings more than 10 years of primary experience to OMICRON, and has published numerous technical papers.The industry regards here as one of the leading authorities on bushings. Mary's work experience also includes 10 years in the power systems group at General Dynamics/Electric Boat Corporation where she worked on submarine design. She is active on key IEEE Transformer Committees related to her area of expertise and received a BSEE degree from Clarkson University in 1988.


Dr. Fredi Jakob
Dr. Fredi Jakob is considered one of the world's foremost experts in Dissolved Gas Analysis. He is a long-term member of ASTM and IEEE and author of over 50 published articles. Dr. Jakob was the founder and Laboratory Director of Analytical ChemTech International, Inc. (ACTI). He served as Professor of Analytical Chemistry at California State University, Sacramento for 36 years. Dr. Jakob received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from CCNY and Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. 


John Stead
John Stead is presently a consulant with KEMA Canada primarily involved in Asset Management related projects. He has worked in the maintenance and operation areas of the utility industry for over 40 years. During the last several years he has been a Senior Consultant with Stead Consulting, working with Canadian and American utilities in the development of maintenance programs and procedures. John Stead is the author of over 20 technical papers and is the past Chairman of the Doble Advisory Committee and Bushing Insulator and Instrument Transformer Committee.
